To be recognised as a poet

Wouldn’t it be something to be recognised as a poet?

I mean, not just to be a poet – many of us write poetry, and are already poets.

But to actually be recognised for it!

To have people read your pieces and like them enough to want to share them, by giving them an award, or publishing them in a book…

Now that would be something!

That would be something, for sure. 🙂

It’s weird. I had a book of poetry published in December but I don’t feel as though I’m anywhere near being ‘recognized as a poet’. One day…

Ron, don’t you feel like seeing your poems in print is ‘recognition’ in itself? Not enough, perhaps! But did it make you feel like more of a ‘real poet’? Maybe publishing is something that helps some people to recognise themselves as poets?
