NSW Laptop Tweets

For those of you out there who are about to receive (or are lucky enough to have already received!) one of the NSW DET issue Lenovo Laptops, this list of Twitter contacts may help you build your Personal Learning Network.

The following is a list of Twitter users that wove their hands about with great enthusiasm when asked who wanted to discuss and share resources for teaching with the new laptops:

You can join Twitter and start following these excellent people at http://twitter.com/

If you’d like to be added to this expanding list, add a comment with your twitter username and some info about your role and region.   There seems to be a lot happening in the Hunter/Central Coast region, surely the rest of us can give them a run for their money 😉

Also let us all know if there are networks springing up in other spaces – for example, English teachers can now join the Teaching English with Laptops ‘Ning’, a site specifically focussed on using the laptops in the English classroom.

I feel refreshed after a 3 week burst of LSL in the Top End with my family and while most of you DET bods are just about to commence an especially well-deserved holiday, I’m raring to go and have a lot of school stuff I’d like to knock over during the break.

I intend to write an English unit for Year 9 (boys mostly) and a series of ‘one off’ lessons and activities to support T&L with the laptops. Happy to share.

I just came across your site by accident; I’ve found a great deal of very useful material here, thank you.

I’m enjoying learning more about my Lenovo Ideapad and all the new software. I have to do a presentation on it tomorrow’ should be interesting.

P.S. There seems to be a problem with your twitter links; you need to remove this from each address:

Hi Kelli, great post and thanks for the link to Melissa’s blog – really enjoyed it. I’m trying to sign up to twitter right now. Hope to be following you and the others soon. English faculty got their laptops at the end of last term and have had some ‘playtime’ in the holidays. They are already using the teachers laptop in the classroom – nice!

Ok so I have signed on to twitter! I was avoiding it but your post persuaded me that I need to move out of my comfort zone. My twitter profile address is

I am HT English at Casino High. English faculty got our laptops at the end of last term so we have all had some playtime in the holidays. Everyone has been quite excited and enthusiastic. HT’s at Casino all got them the day before and it was great to see them out on the desk at this weeks executive meeting. I’m trying to work out the ‘shared onenote’ stuff so that i can ‘share’ meeting minutes with my staff.

We are very impressed with curriculum support materials for English. At this stage we think we will each try out a different resource and share at faculty meetings. Some teachers are already using their teacher laptop in the classroom with their year 9 classes.
It’s a great time to be a teacher!
