Barriers to getting involved:
- Access issues – power in rural and remote areas
- Equity issues – not all students are digitally literate
- Equipment access – access to computer labs, laptops, broadband
- Home access – students with no computers or internet access at home
- Behaviour management – ICT TOO EXCITING!

Hi Kelli,
If ICT becomes ’embedded’ (to use a weasel word) across the curriculum, then your fifth point of ICT being too exciting will cease to become so much of an issue.
Regarding ‘digital literacy’, I’d be interested to hear what you mean by that as it’s the subject of my Ed.D. thesis! Perhaps running keyboarding/ECDL-like courses might help? It all depends what you mean… 🙂
And finally, equity issues should become less and less of an issue, especially if students have access to school resources in extra-curricular time. In the UK, the government have promised money to make sure every family can get a broadband Internet connection. Is there something similar in Australia?
